The Ports of Panama

The terminal ports of Balboa and Cristobal, formerly operated by the National Port Authority, a Panamanian Government entity, were privatized March 1997.
The concession for both these ports was awarded to Panama Ports Co.
The private international terminal of Manzanillo opened April 1994.
The Colon Container Terminal at Coco Solo began operations October 1997.

There are now three major container terminals located on the Atlantic side and one on the Pacific.

The Panama Railroad Company, after an ambitious program of construction of the existing isthmian track, commenced operations November 2001.

This additional transport dimension is complementary to the Canal ports infrastructure.
